This chapter describes how to sign in to MailBase from a mobile device and perform search and mail-forwarding tasks.
System requirements
This section defines what counts as a mobile device, how to connect it to MailBase, how to operate it, and which features are available. The screenshots use an iPad in landscape orientation; all mobile-supported screens work in both landscape and portrait — the layout differs slightly but the functions remain the same.
"Mobile device" here means a phone or tablet. This module mainly supports:
- iOS 10.0 or later: iPhone, iPad
- Android 5 or later: any compatible phone or tablet
How to sign in
From your mobile device's browser, enter http://MailBase-IP to reach the sign-in page (for example, if MailBase is hosted at 192.168.0.1, enter http://192.168.0.1). The sign-in screen is shown below.
Sign-in screen layout
- Enter your account.
- Enter your password.
- Pick the post-login language — Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, or English (four options).
- Tick "Remember account" to have the account field pre-filled the next time this device opens the sign-in page; you will only need to enter the password.
- After entering valid credentials, tap this button to enter the system.
- Tap Reset to clear the account and password fields.
- Choose between the desktop version and the mobile version of the website:
- Desktop: the MailBase web page used from a regular computer.
- Mobile: a page designed specifically for mobile devices.
The screen after sign-in
After sign-in the screen shows the account's Inbox for today, as shown below:
- Search — tap to reveal the search bar. See section 9.5 for details.
- Forward — tap to be prompted for the destination address. See section 9.6 for details.
- Message subject and sender/recipient information.
- Message body.
- Date range selector — Today, 3 days, 1 week, 1 month, 6 months, and 1 year (six options).
- Choose whether to display the Inbox or the Sent folder.
- Sign out.
- Jump to the previous or next message. On the first message only the "Next" button is available; on the last message only the "Previous" button is available.
How to search
The steps are:
- Tap the Search button.
- A search bar opens with two input fields. The selector in the red box (shown below) lets you choose which field — Sender, Recipient, etc. — each input is matched against.
-
Field
Description
Sender
Matches the RFC 822 sender (email address and display name) and the envelope From.
Recipient (To/Cc/Bcc)
Matches the RFC 822 To, Cc, and Bcc recipients (email address and display name) and all envelope RCPT addresses.
Sender/Recipient
Matches mail by email address, including sender and recipient envelope addresses as well as the From and To addresses in the RFC 822 headers.
Subject
Matches the mail subject.
Mail Body
Matches the body of every mail, including the contents of attachments.
Attachment name
The filename of an attachment. If a message has an attached .ZIP that contains other files, the file hierarchy might look like:

Attachment abstract
Matches the abstracts of every mail attachment.
- Choose how the two fields combine — AND, OR, or NOT:
- When done, tap the Search button (the magnifying-glass icon).
- The search results appear.
How to forward mail
Once you have found the message you want, forward it to any mailbox you choose. The steps are:
- Select a message to forward.
- Tap the Forward button.
- Enter the destination email address and tap OK.
- The forward completes.
