MailBase can deliver mail directly over POP3. To do this, MailBase provisions a temporary POP3 account and password that any mail user agent (MUA) can authenticate against. This is useful when the MUA does not handle EML or PST files. To export mail to a temporary mailbox:
- Choose Export to Temporary Mailbox as the export format. If you are signed in as an organization administrator, you can specify the recipient of the notification email; otherwise the recipient defaults to yourself. After the export, the system automatically sends a notification email (containing the mail server, account, and password) to the address you specified.
- In Export Results, click the
icon to show Temporary Mailbox Info.
The example below uses Office Outlook 2007 to walk through how to configure a temporary mailbox:
- Confirm that you have received the notification email — or that your administrator has provided the temporary mailbox details directly.
-
Open Outlook and choose Tools > Account Settings.
- Click New to add an account.
-
Choose Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP (M).
-
Tick Manually configure server settings or additional server types (M).
-
Choose Internet E-mail (I).
-
Enter the temporary mailbox details from the notification email (or as provided by the administrator).
- A. Your Name (Y): any name you like.
- B. E-mail Address (E): the account from the notification email.
- C. Account Type (A): POP3.
- D. Incoming mail server (I): the mail server hostname or IP from the notification email.
- E. Outgoing mail server (SMTP) (O): the mail server hostname or IP from the notification email.
- F. User Name (U): the account from the notification email (including domain).
- G. Password (P): the password from the notification email.
-
When done, go to Tools > Send/Receive > Send/Receive All Folders to download all messages.
Important: enter the full account from the notification email, including the domain (e.g. zozvn@mbpop3.com.tw).
